Prayer Alert:  We have received and important prayer request from our India HQ that is very concerning but as we pray, may we see God's people in India stand firm for their faith. 

 Threats are coming against Christians during the Christmas celebrations in India this year.  As you celebrate with your families please pray for the Serve India leaders, pastors, church members and egg project children.   Reports are surfacing that there is a major re-conversion campaign to force Christians to re-convert to Hinduism on Christmas day.  


Radical Hindu organizations whose philosophy is called Hindutva. Their vision is to see every Muslim and Christian reconverted to Hinduism because they believe that the Muslims and Christians of India were mislead by the proselytizers into embracing these foreign religions. They have declared their intention to bring back the 'lost sheep' into the Hindu fold by organizing Ghar Vapasi ( Return Home) programs across the country on Christmas Day. 

News papers are reporting with much concern that the Return Home  programs are already underway in some of the Hindu-dominated states such as Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh bringing back hundreds of Christians and Muslims to the Hindu fold.  If necessary they want to provide financial incentives in the range of Rs. 200,000-500,000 to those who agree to reconvert.  It has been said that they want to see up to 100,000 Christians/ Muslims 'return home per year. 

When one news paper reporter of a significant news agency asked if those who were being reconverted were Christians or Muslims he was told by the organizers of the Return Home program that they did not verify the religious faiths of those returning to the Hindu fold. 

This and other reports go to show that we cannot take the claims of these outfits at face value. Nevertheless there have been reports from our own mission fields that activists go from house to house threatening Christian believers to comply or face dire consequences. 

Our pastors serving in some of the North Indian states are already under intense pressure to send their congregants to the Return Home program besides reconverting themselves. 

• Please pray specifically for the Return Home programs scheduled for 25th December will not take place at all. 
• Pray for religious harmony.  
• Please pray for those of the Christians who are currently under a lot of pressure from these radical outfits. 
• Pray for the Church in India to act with wisdom in these hard times. 
• Pray that the present Central Government's agenda of imposing a ban on conversion will not become a reality. 

Erwin Family Update

Just a quick update to let you know how everything is going with the Erwin Family Ministries as we serve national pastors of India through Serve India Ministries. We are nearing our year end push with the “Join the Story” campaign http://serveindiaministries.org/join-the-story/ . Our goal is to raise vital support for our unsponsored pastors.

God has given us a lot of favor this fall with Brother Ebey’s fall tour. We have seen over 100 pastors sponsored as well as several hundred Egg Project children. Brother Ebey is currently in London for some meetings before returning to India on the 10th of December. Our ministry is experiencing rapid growth in India and in 2015, we could add as many as 2000 more pastors. I simply choose to trust God by faith that He will provide for this increase. I am glad it is God’s work we are doing and not our own otherwise we would not be able to make it.

Janey is working hard helping convert our database from our old system called Denari to the new more advanced system called Donor Perfect. With this conversion, each of our automatic donors need to be contacted to renew their financial support and re-submit their credit card or e-check information.

It is a challenge to contact everyone but Jane and our admin team have made great progress in this conversion. Janey used to be the department leader for Gift Entry at Gospel for Asia so her experience is very helpful in this process.

Benjamin is doing very well with his 8th grade studies and seems to pick up easily whatever he needs to learn for his studies. He continues to take violin lessons and is part of a local orchestra here in Harrison Arkansas

PTL! We have reached our year end reserve goal…….

We were able to receive some very generous donations toward our ministry reserve goal and now we are in very good shape until July of next year!

This is such a blessing for our ministry to India because it allows Janey and I to serve without having to find outside income. Most of my time in ministry is spent working to raise the support needed to train 3000 pastors and help 4000 children in India. With the rapid growth of our work in India, it is more vital than ever that we spend as much time as possible serving the vision of the ministry.!

Our second goal is to raise an additional $800 per month of regular monthly support. We have lost a lot of monthly support over the past 6 months but by God’s grace we will see His provision.

Will you help us with this goal as the Lord enables you and directs you.  We will be much honored to have you as a new partner and we are much honored to have our current partners.

We are on a road together to see India come to Jesus.......

Thank you to our partners!

 Paul spoke in Philippians 1, under the inspiration of God to the Macedonian Church, thanking them for their partnership.  I want to take time in this letter to express my thankfulness for your generosity.  It means more than financial support but your support is an affirmation that God has called us to bless India in this generation. 

I am not able to see the times that you have sacrificially given to support The Erwin Family Ministries when there were many other bills that needed to be paid but God has seen your sacrifice.

The goal of Serve India Ministries is to help reach India in this generation.  Together we are co-laboring with Jesus in reaching this generation.  As Jesus said in John 4: 35-36, to pray for laborers and we are seeing the greatest harvest of souls unfold in India today. 

I pray that in our hectic schedules, that we take time and think about God's message of the Gospel traveling to over 10,000 villages and multitudes of precious people hearing about Jesus for the first time. 

 India is enormous but not too big for our God.  The God who created the heavens and earth wants to redeem the 1.2 billion souls in India and save them for eternity.

Together we are co-laboring with Jesus; the Lord of the Harvest.  Don't grow wearing in well doing, your partnership with this ministry is making a wonderful difference in the lives of the unreached of India. 

I thank my God every time I remember you.  In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy  because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,  being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart and, whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me. God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.

Garden News

Janey and Benjamin recently made the local newspaper.  We had some kale and lettuce and beets from our garden and decided to sell some of our vegetables at the local farmers market.  We actually sold all that we had.  Having a garden is another benefit we have since we have moved to Arkansas.  One problem here in this part of Arkansas is your first bumper crop will be rocks.  That isn't a problem though because we use the rocks to fill the holes in our driveway.  

 

Update from Jane,

 Happy 4th of July everyone!  We really enjoyed the 4th this year.  We had my parents and my brother and his wife and Mike's mom here for burgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings, and of course fireworks!!  They came with extra fireworks to add to ours making this a year to remember for Ben.  You see ever since we had Ben we have lived in places that was illegal to set off your own fireworks, so this year Ben had the perfect place to let them fly: and boy did he!  I know he slept well last night.  We are loving being here and the enjoying our home tremendously.  Thank you all for helping to make this happen.     We love you all.  Jane

Our family will be traveling 3 different times this summer with the hopes of raising the support necessary to fund over 60 new egg projects that are being started right now.  By this fall they will need to be funded.   We will be talking to our regular partners as well as speaking at churches sharing the vision of  "The Egg Project."

Please join us in prayer for favor and faith that we will see God's glorious provision for these precious children. 

We will be traveling to Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and back to Arkansas.  The 2nd tour will be from Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Kentucky.  The 3rd tour will be traveling out west to Nevada, Colorado, Idaho, California, Oregon, Washington and Arizona.  I plan on Janey and Benjamin traveling with me for all three of these tours.  I will be much more effective is they are traveling with me and we will by faith see God save 3000 children and their families who come to Christ as we co-labor with Him.  Meanwhile you can go to  www.theeggproject.com and learn more.

Thank you for your love and friendship.  Thank you also for reading our letter.    We are excited to tell you about the past and future growth of Serve India Ministries and how you can help us grow much faster to reach 1000s of unreached villages in India.    

Currently we are serving more than 2000 pastors who are being trained in 52 locations in India.  These pastors are reaching out to over 5000 unreached villages with the Gospel.  

Our Ministry History

Janey and I have served together in ministry since 1989.   We began as youth ministers in Harrison AR where we went on7 mission trips in 6 years and then we joined Gospel for Asia in 1997.  At Gospel for Asia Janey served very effectively as the Gift Entry Coordinator and brought a great work ethic and much joy to the department.  When Benjamin was born she was able to care for him at home.  When we joined Serve India in 2009 she began working at Costco in order to provide the extra income we needed along with health insurance.  Now we plan on moving back to Arkansas to be near our parents. 

The Past Four Years

One of the main reasons that I have been able to serve these past four years with Serve India Ministries is because my wife Jane has worked at Costco to provide us health insurance and supplement our income.  I remember when we served at Gospel for Asia, Janey worked in the Gift Entry department and was a major asset to the department because of her work ethic and the joy she brought with her every day.

 

What is the biggest Roadblocks? (Lack of USA Staff!)

 

One of the greatest hindrances for Serve India Ministries is the lack of staff to help with the US operations.  When we work to try to recruit someone who is able to help us, I realize that my wife is one of the most talented admin professionals I know!   Janey and I have been involved in India missions since 1997 and we want to see this nation won to Christ to his glory.  We also want to bring as many of our friends along that journey with us.  When our family traveled to India in February of last year, we were able to meet many of the pastors that we serve as well as their leaders who train and equip them.  God has given Serve India some very courageous pastors as well as the best of leaders of any India ministry. 

Janey’s Ministry Responsibilities as a Development Specialist Will Be:

      

 

• Assist Development Department to execute Serve India’s development plan.

• Serve ministry donors with written as well as verbal messaging. 

• Help Serve India with donor development, recruitment, and retention through the website, social media, electronic newsletters and print media.

• Support major donor program.

• Researching and analyzing major gifts prospects, foundation grants and coordinating India vision tours.

• Helping to schedule church meetings, and any related tasks.

• Provide administrative support for donation acknowledgment and thank you.

• Design and implement donor appreciation and cultivation events and activities.

• Serve new donors to grow in their involvement with Serve India Ministries.

With only “36” more partners we can reach this important goal 

In order for Janey to join our team, we will have three primary objectives:

#1 Decrease our monthly expenses

#2 Purchase health insurance

#3 Raise $2000 per month of additional support

To accomplish the task of raising additional support we are able to do it with around 36 donors who are giving at these various levels:

·         1 donor at                   $200                                                   

·         10 donors at                $100                                                   

·         10 donors at               $50                                                     

·         15 donors at               $20
